From humble beginnings in 1993, the Primrose Cafe has evolved to become one of Bristol’s busiest and best-loved cafes and also one of the city’s most highly regarded restaurants.
Tucked away at the end of a small but bustling cul de sac in Clifton Village, they serve a large and loyal clientele everything from morning coffee to a three-course dinner.
Almost everything is made on the premises and they take the trouble to source locally, sustainably and ethically.
In the evenings from Monday-Saturday the busy café is transformed into an intimate candle-lit bistro. Ingredients are used that have been traditionally harvested without the use of artificial fertilizers and growth promoters, which reflect the seasons and support local businesses. Their wild fish comes from Cornwall and is caught on dayboats using lines or small nets and is delivered daily. Meat and poultry come from local farms that pay particular attention to the welfare of their livestock. They also raise their own pigs and serve them on the menu as often as possible, making their own hams, chorizo and bacon.
In a perfectly positioned sun trap, the Primrose is the ideal place to watch the world go by while tucking into an all-day breakfast, sampling a lunchtime speciality or savouring a slice of homemade cake.
