Tony and Sara Chivers opened Cinnamon, housed in a listed 17th century oak beamed, gabled stone building in November 2001. The building is listed so seating is limited to thirty in a relatively small space and therefore booking is recommended.
Cinnamon is a coffee shop by day, offering teas, cakes, soups, sandwiches, filled toasted foccacias, salad bowls and a blackboard full of specials. In the evening it turns into an intimate Anglo-French restaurant with a extensive wine list, an a la carte and a new 'brasserie' menu which provides dishes such as lamb shank with rosemary potatoes, confit duck with puy lentils and baked Camembert with red onion jam and toasted focaccia that runs on Tuesday to Thursday nights for people looking for something less 'restauranty'.
Sara maintains the friendly front-of-house atmosphere while Tony, with over twenty years of experience as a chef, and sous chef Bertrand Ammel, keep all the food simple with everything freshly prepared and home-made.
