Cardamom is a breath of chic and civilised air, attracting the more discerning type with a menu rich in diversity and comfortable, relaxed surroundings. No stranger to celebrity diners, Cardamom has most recently served Jonathan Davies and Joe Ledley! Having recently won the 2007 and 2008 British Curry Award's Top 100, been nominated for the 2009 British Curry Award and been a finalist for the 2007 Welsh Curry House award, owner Alias Miah is justifiably proud of his restaurant, describing it as having ""an extra edge"" on the standard format. His formula for fantastic food is ""using the freshest ingredients possible and paying special attention to texture, flavour and presentation."" The food itself is characterised by a progressive attitude to traditional cooking methods. Each dish has been individually developed to its full potential, from the tender pomfret biran - flat fish rubbed with garlic and spices and pan-fried in mustard oil, to the award-winning murg anawaka - sliced chicken tikka fried with tomato, green peppers and mushrooms in a fairly dry sauce. Cardamom specialises in fish dishes so why not try their sea bass, monkfish, snapper, salmon or cod dishes? There's plenty to choose from for the vegetarian as well, with mains such as poneer shabzi masala - cottage cheese and vegetables in a very mild sauce. There is also a great selection of wines and Champagnes to choose from.
